The longer I live,
The more deeply I learn
That love,
Whether we call it friendship
Or family or romance,
Is the work of mirroring
And magnifying
Each other's light.
Gentle work. Steadfast work.
Life-saving work in those moments
When life and shame and sorrow
Occlude our own light from our view.
But there is still a clear-eyed loving person
To beam it back.
In our best moments
We are that person for another.
James Baldwin
HANDFASTING
Handfasting is an ancient Celtic ritual which symbolically joins the hands of a couple to demonstrate their willingness to commit to one another, freely and with good intentions.
How Does It Work?
It's very similar to a marriage ceremony and can be incorporated into a legal marriage ceremony, a vow renewal ceremony or can stand alone as a ceremony of commitment.
I guide the couple to write their own vows, providing resources to help stoke their imagination, and their courage if need be!
It can be celebrated as an elopement, indoors or outdoors, with a intimate group or in a larger setting. It is a powerful symbol of union and can be completed with sharing the loving cup, the Quaich ritual.
"May these hands always express your love for one another through the years as they weather the times of your committment to one another."

A blessing is a circle of light drawn around a person to protect, heal and strengthen. Anyone can bless another. To Invoke a blessing is to create an intentional space of loving kindess- John O'Donoghue
